Graduate in Journalism, specialized in Online Media, and Ph.D candidate at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia (Spain). I began my career in information graphics at La Voz de Galicia in 2000—sort of family tradition— and moved to elmundo.es two years after: first as Health Graphics Editor and since 2005 as Graphics Director. I have been awarded at the Society for News Design, Malofiej and Online News Association. Besides the career in the media, I have published several research articles on ethics, specialized Infographics and multimedia storytelling, spoken at the World Infographics Summit or the ONA and taught workshops in Spain, Portugal, the U.S. and South America. In March 2007 my wife Cristina and me moved to New York, where I worked as Assistant Art Director at Newsweek, responsible for the Interactive Graphics of the magazine, until I moved to The New York Times, as Graphics Editor.
